The core facility of the resort, the Guest House, is described by NSDAt as 'a new forest vessel'. It is designed to blend in with the existing forest, featuring an artificial ground that extends from the natural ground to the second floor level. This gives the impression that the forest continues from the inside of the facility. On the other side of the entrance, water and plants are arranged like a waterfall from the cut surface of the ground, creating a lively atmosphere that embodies the theme of the facility.
NSDAt used a shell structure for the undulating artificial ground at the top of the entrance to create a seamless and beautiful curved ceiling. The space is designed to look like a huge lantern with warm light that attracts people by illuminating the ceiling only from the ground level. The Guest House also features an 18-meter by 18-meter column-free stairwell with a symbolic polyhedral roof, creating a center of flow lines in this high-visibility facility.
The resort is located in Binh Chau Village, about a three-hour drive east from Ho Chi Minh City. It is nestled in a lush forest, about 3km inland from a coastline dotted with tourist areas such as beach resorts and casinos. The Guest House includes a reception and changing room, where guests can change into swimwear and explore the various themed SPAs.
The project started in June 2017 and was completed in November 2020. The design team included NSDAt, TOA Landscape Architecture, BEAM, daruman, and T plus. The design was awarded the Golden A' Architecture, Building and Structure Design Award in 2021, a prestigious accolade granted to marvelous, outstanding, and trendsetting creations that reflect the designer's prodigy and wisdom.
In conclusion, Binh Chau Minera is a testament to NSDAt's ability to create innovative designs that seamlessly blend architecture with nature. The resort not only provides a unique experience for its guests but also serves as a model for future designs that aim to integrate facilities with their natural surroundings.
